Well done to all Newbridge athletes who took part in Day 2 and 3 of the Leinster Indoors.

Good luck to all Newbridge AC athletes competing in the Leinster Indoors Sat 18th and Sun 19th February.

The Irish Senior Indoor championships were held over the past weekend in the odyssey arena Belfast. Unfortunately the event was missing some of the big stars of Irish athletics and there were no international guests to excite the crowd.
Sunday was final day with many exciting events being held. The men’s 60 metres hurdles saw a new record of 7.75 seconds set by Ben Reynolds, North Down who seems determined to break every record for this very technical discipline he now holds records for both the 60 and 110 meters.

Several clubs submitted applications for road races in the Summer months.
As there are now quite a number within the county it is envisaged that some will form a road race series. More details on this to follow.

Kildare – Newbridge Athletic Club

Training for u10s will be held at the track on Tuesdays from this week onwards, 6.30 - 7.30.
No further training in Scoil Mhuire on Wednesdays.

Congratulations to Fiona Hill who won the Irish Intervarsity’s Championships in Nenagh on Saturday last. Fiona representing her college CIT Carlow competed in the triple jump and won the competition with a jump of 10.98 metres. Fiona was also a member of the CIT 4x200 metre relay team, Which finished third in an exciting race which saw the favourites DCU drop the baton in the final changeover.
The day was an excellent event with many top class races.

The Girls u12 A team won their heat and were Bronze Medal winners in Final Grace O' Toole, Kate Ryan, Aoibhinn Dunphy and Nickie O' Neill. Congratulations!
The B Team in the Girls u12 of Aoife Kennedy, Leah O' Shea, Eva Matthews, Ellen Hillard, ran well but did not qualify for final.
The Girls u/14 finished 2nd in their heat but their time did not qualify for Final, members were Aimee McGrath, Eillie O' Toole, Julia Hillard and Molly Nolan. Well done girls!
