The top four athletes from North, East, West,and South of Ireland competed for National medals at the final day of the All Ireland Indoor Championships in Athlone today April 1st. To qualify from the heats and get to the top eight was a big achievement. Luke Morris U/19 was first in the blocks and crossed the line in the 200m final for the silver medal in 2.24. Ellie O’ Toole + Aimee McGrath U/19 faced the gun for the final of the 800m with 12 rivals Ellie having a great run to take bronze in a P:’B 2.17 and Aimee having her first run after injury finishing in top eight, Mark Glynn U/19 800m after easing into the final from the heats had high hope’s of gold but in a tough scrappy race was bumped on the bends and had to be content with bronze. Alex O’ Shea was very happy to make the final eight in the U/15 60m Hurdles and in a tight finish was delighted to finish 7th. All Ireland medals of any colour are highly prized so well done to all.
